Why is it important?
If factory managers don't understand which, and to what extent, workers value workplace amenities, then it provides one explanation for why labor standards remain low in developing countries.

Why don't managers improve labor standards in apparel factories? Sometimes the obvious answer turns out to be right: they simply might not understand that workers care about their working environment and conditions and not only about wages.
