What is it about?
This piece of work illustrates the importance of the Sirt3 protein, a deacetylase, in adipogenic differentiation through upregulating mitochondrial biogenesis and bioenergetic function of mesenchymal stem cells.

Why is it important?
Sirt3 has been shown to play a role in the regulation of metabolism of fatty acids, which are mostly stored in adipocytes. Accumulation of fatty acids may cause insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes.
