What is it about?

We want to know which genes are expressed in different parts of Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris, mänty). Gene expression helps us to understand how the trees function, adapt and evolve.

Why is it important?

Gene expression atlas across different part of trees is a valuable database for conifer researchers who are working on tree physiology and molecular biology. Gene expression patterns have a major impact on the evolutionary rates. To understand evolution, we need to know where and at what level genes are expressed.

Perspectives

This is an important resource that we and hopefully many others will refer to in later work on conifer gene evolution and genetics.
