What is it about?

This paper examines methodologies for measuring a just energy transition. We use the Northeast of Scotland as a case study and categorise measurement into for domains - socioeconomic, health and welfare, democratic participation and community empowerment.

Why is it important?

Many areas are going to undergo a significant economic and societal transition as we move away from carbon based energy and this paper gives a framework about how to measure this.

Perspectives

This paper shows the power of interdisciplinarity and how bringing together and integrating the viewpoints of multiple disciplines (here Economics, Geography, Law and Sociology) generates something that is greater than the sum of its parts.
