What is it about?
How does the political gender gap evolve in the 17 Spanish regional chambers along 1980-2011? 1.- Is there a critical threshold of 30% of women in Spanish regional parliaments? 2.- Is the political gender gap lower for senior than for junior politicians in Spanish regional parliaments? 3.- Are women confined to less influential political positions in the legislative in Spanish regional parliaments?

Why is it important?
We show several things that had not been shown for Spanish regional parliaments before: 1.- The theory of the 30% critical threshold of women works in Spain. Once attained, women do not fall below it. 2.- The political gender gap is lower for senior than for junior politicians in Spain. 3.- Women confined to less influential political positions in Spanish parliaments.
