What is it about?
This is a comprehensive review of the reasons for and the effects of privatisations in developing countries with respect to management control. It notes the sometimes parlous state of government owned enterprises due to political interference for patronage purposes. It traces the variable results from privatisations noting that whilst they often result in more effective commercial controls the results are not invariably congruent with broader development goals.
