What is it about?
It is possible to observe that in most North American multiethnic film productions, the plot invariably disregards the family ties of the black characters, while the same does not occur with the white characters, who often have their family ties well developed and duly presented to the public. Given this scenario and based on the Theory of Social Representations, the present study analyzed the synopsis and technical details of a selection of 44 films released between 1936 and 2016.

Why is it important?
The result of this analysis allowed the development of the definition of the “lone wolf” archetype to characterize a type of social representation in which the family ties of Black characters are not even secondary, but practically nonexistent.
