Why is it important?

As more Universities set up Presses it is important to show that developing a University Press requires continued investment in both professional support staff, platform development and infrastructure. There are increasing demands from the wider research environment for scholarly research to be available and accessible to public, private and professional audiences as well as the traditional academic sector.

Perspectives

I was involved in working with the students who published in Fields: Journal of Huddersfield Student Research and it is great to see the evidence of how their research is being cited as a result of making it open access and widely available.
