Why is it important?

This work strengthen the current knowledge on Curcuma longa and Boswellia serrata effectiveness in the management of IBD, by underline the anti-inflammatory mechanism of action of Curcuma longa and the antioxidant mechanism of action of Boswellia serrata, both preventing intestinal barrier dysfunction and protecting from leucocyte infiltration.

Perspectives

This work should represent the starting point for novel research, hopefully at clinical level, to further spread the use of herbal medicine in support to conventional IBD therapies.
