Why is it important?
cholesterol is generally considered as causative of cancers although epidemiological studies are not conclusive in most cases and is linked to the occurence of neurodegenerative diseases. The identification of a cholesterol metabolite displaying tumor suppressive properties mitigate this assumption for cancers and opens up new fields of investigations in the etiology of these diseases .
