What is it about?
We wanted do describe the individual characteristics from breast cancer patients that could be related to the presence of a protein, ABCB1, which is currently understood as a marker of resistance to chemotherapy.

Why is it important?
Before doing the study, we expected that the presence of ABCB1 could be associated to a worse response to chemotherapy. Unfortunately, we learned that this might not be the only feature of this protein, and it seems that ABCB1 tumor presence might be segregated with other features of a more "aggressive" type of breast cancer, the triple negative breast cancer.
