What is it about?

This study explains how a specific protein called ANT2 plays a crucial role in causing chronic kidney disease in people who are obese. We found that when we reduced the amount of ANT2 in cells in the kidney, the cells switched from using fat for energy to using glucose, which helped protect the cells and preserve kidney function. These findings help us understand why obesity can lead to kidney disease and could help develop new treatments to target this problem.
