What is it about?
This article describes content and implementation process of the originally developed, culturally appropriate and sustainability-oriented social and emotional learning program in Latvia. In total 39 schools in Latvia (including 12 699 pupils) implemented the SEL program during the 2012/13 and 2013/14 school years.

Why is it important?
The SEL program was developed since nothing similar had yet appeared in Latvia. The Latvia SEL program was developed on the basis of principles aggregated from multiple existing SEL programs abroad, and was specifically created to be compatible with the sociocultural context of Latvia.
