What is it about?
Clinical laboratories routinely screen for autoantibodies in patients suspected to have autoimmune disease. Variability in autoantibody testing among laboratories can sometimes make interpreting test results difficult. Here we describe two reference standards to help calibrate tests and reduce variability in reporting lab results for anti-mitochondrial and anti-rods/rings autoantibodies.
