What is it about?
This paper draws on Pigou to calculate that an emissions tax is both feasible and would be beneficial. Nevertheless, it complements this data with in-depth interviews with key stakeholders regarding the viability of introducing such a tax. In contrast to the mathematical calculations, the interview data reveal the complexities and issues involved with the introduction of such a tax.

Why is it important?
The paper is important as it shows the complexities of translating what appear to be mathematically feasible solutions to the practical arena. When this is considered, issues such as following what nearby rivals are doing become apparent, making what appears a straightforward solution from a mathematical perspective, appear highly complex in reality.
