What is it about?
Cigarette smoking is highly detrimental to overall human health, whether similar damage is caused by newer Heat-Not-Burn (IQOS) products is not yet clear. This study directly addresses this question by testing effect of IQOS-exposure on human lung cells. We found that IQOS in a manner very similar to cigarette smoke and electronic cigarettes is cytotoxic to the airway cells and has the potential to negatively impact many physiological functions in the lung.
