What is it about?
We did not intend to look at this, but we found that females were better than males at telling apart two words (Dish and Ditch), which only differ on your ability to detect presence of a small gap in the middle of the word.

Why is it important?
We know males, on average, lose their hearing faster than females. Having hearing loss for longer before you get a cochlear implant to fix the problem could diminish your ability to hear certain words.
