Why is it important?
The article shows Leavers were much more optimistic about the likely EU response to Brexit than Remainers. Although the EU's non-accommodating negotiation stance made Leavers more pessimistic during the Brexit negotiations, these expectations became detached from their unwavering support for Brexit.
