What is it about?
The publication raises the question how the legislator should deal with liability for damaged caused by robots, systems based on artificial intelligence that take autonomous decisions. Is our current legislation enough? Do we need new rules? How should these look like? Is legal personhood for robots a solution? What initiatives has the EU taken in this regard?

Why is it important?
Robots play an increasingly important role in our lives, think of search robots, virtual assistants ( Siri, Alxia, etc.), (partially) self-driving cars etc. It is important to have in place legal rules that guarantee that victims of damage caused by robots obtain compensation.
