What is it about?

Exploring the viewpoints of recently appointed Computing Graduates and their Employers is the focus of a UK Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) Collaborative Enhancement project, in which seven UK Universities are employing workshops with graduates and employers to explore the idealised learner-earner journey. This poster presents preliminary findings from one university, providing insights into effective current practices, challenges, and opportunities for improvement. This Poster is an output from a Collaborative Enhancement Project supported and funded by QAA Membership. The project is led by Northumbria University in partnership with Abertay University, University of Bath, Cardiff University, Ulster University, University of Huddersfield, University of York and London Metropolitan University. Why is it important?

Finding professional employment continues to challenge a minority of computing graduates, with graduate unemployment and under-employment being higher than ideal in many jurisdictions worldwide. The work explores the idealised transition to employment, providing insights into effective current practices, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.

Perspectives

Writing the poster provided some early-day insights. It will be exciting to see if these are duplicated at other workshops at this and other universities. The project is more comprehensive than the futurespective explored in this piece. The project also addresses professional and technical skills gaps.
