What is it about?
This article presents a proposal for a specific heuristic to evaluate the collaboration component of an interactive application as part of a comprehensive usability evaluation. To elaborate this proposal a usability evaluation methodology was taken as a basis, which has 15 heuristics defined to evaluate interactive systems, and a new heuristic was added, especially oriented to evaluate aspects specific to collaborative applications, which is our main contribution.

Why is it important?
The Human-Computer Interaction discipline (HCI) has an extensive bibliography on the factors to be taken into account in order to develop usable applications. However, even though there are references related to usability evaluation specifically in collaborative contexts, not many have focused their efforts on usability evaluation. Due to our article is importat.
