What is it about?

The impact of the people, challenges, tasks, spaces and tools on shaping teenagers' 3D modeling and 3D printing experiences. The implications can be expanded into: 1) children in other age groups; 2) other digital fabrication activities such as 3D modeling and VR-game programming, 2D/3D modeling and laser cutting.

Why is it important?

Our work presents an in-depth understanding of the entanglements of different aspects of space and task and their influences on the participants' engagement/disengagement. These significant aspects have not been the focus of much studies in the context of children's digital fabrication activities.

Perspectives

I was so excited while analyzing the data and writing this article. Utilizing nexus analysis was just amazing and indeed was helpful in shaping a close connection between me and the data. I enjoyed every bit of it despite all the challenges! And, I am truly happy and honored that this work has received CHI's 'honorable mention' award :)
