Why is it important?

The Educational Service of Serralves Museum bases its activities on the natural, museological and architectural heritage of the Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art and its Park, in order to create closer and stronger ties with the community. New forms of cultural participation are therefore proposed, from the perspective of sharing interests, knowledge, and affections, in transversal approaches that span art, architecture, the environment and citizenship. Catolica University and Serralves partnership aims to reflect and promote an indepth knowledge and experience of the works belonging to the Serralves collection and to idealize new ways of relating art and technology in education.

Perspectives

In this article, we present our experience as interactive media creators on the Contemporary Art Museum to consider different approaches to supporting participatory creative pedagogies in the museum educational programmes with pre-school education to secondary school. After discussing how the experiences were designed and developed for this audience, we will continue our partnership with Serralves Museum Educational Programme in developing more meaningful experience that motivates children to appreciate the value of cultural/historical assets.
