Why is it important?
This review summarizes the interaction of the important fungal pathogen C. albicans and AMPs. AMPs are soluble key elements of innate immunity, which can directly kill fungal pathogens. The interplay of C. albicans and AMPs is essential to become a successful fungal commensal and to control fungal proliferation preventing ‘parasitism’. This review summarizes human AMP attack and C. albicans resistance mechanisms, as well as current developments in the use of AMPs
