Why is it important?
This paper quantitates for the first time the interaction of Msb2, a secretory protein of the fungal pathogen Candida albicans, with a human antimicrobial peptide (AMP). The measurements were done by a novel method, microscale thermophoresis (MST) and show high affinity of binding, which explains the phenomenon that Msb2 protects microorganisms against AMPs, specifically against the reserve antibiotic daptomycin.
