What is it about?

Identification of the acoustic scattering characteristics of apparatus used in ventilation systems is an important problem. There are some techniques which use external sound sources, like loudspeakers, for that. We highlighted that the use of such external sources affect the characteristics of the setup. We pointed out what to pay attention not to suffer from these effects.

Why is it important?

The use of external sources in acoustic identification is a widely used approach in experimental aeroacoustics. However, the effect of such systems on the experimental setup has not been fully addressed yet in the literature. Our work shows how important these effects are and how they can be eliminated.
