What is it about?
Scl1 adhesin of group A Streptococcus (GAS) selectively binds to wound-associated extracellular matrix (ECM) proteins. The globular variable domain of Scl1 mediates binding to ECM targets via conserved mechanism. Scl1-ECM interactions facilitate GAS attachment and biofilm formation in the wound and promotes host colonization.
