What is it about?

In this paper authors made a comparison between two solid-liquid extraction processes: conventional maceration and Extractor Naviglio. The best results for the production of Cinchona calisaya Elixir were obtained by using Extractor Naviglio. An Experimental Kinetics and Numerical Modeling Approach were used for quantitative analyses of phenomenon.

Why is it important?

It is the first time that the application of Extractor Naviglio was applied for production of Cinchona calisaya Elixir. While conventional maceration requires long times of extraction (about 20 days), the new solid-liquid extraction technology named Extractor Naviglio requires only 12 hours for the reaching of the maximum efficiency of extraction.

Perspectives

This report is very important fro the production of bitter liqueur and similar alcholic beverages because of reduction of times of extraction and for the higher quality of extract obtained in comparison with conventional extraction (maceration, infusion).
