What is it about?
The paper documents the evolution of agri-food trade flows originating in the CEE-11 and the shares of these countries in total agri-food exports to the EU and world markets. It also provides insights to the decomposition of the growth of CEE-11 agri-food exports according to the concepts of the intensive margin i.e., the expansion of existing exported products with existing trade partners; and the extensive margins i.e., the expansion of exports due to an increase in the number of exported products with existing and new trade partners.

Why is it important?
THe CEE agri-food exports increased, both within the EU and globally, in both absolute terms and in terms of relative market share These findings suggest that, although CEE-11 EU Member States have caught up with the old EU-15 Member States to some degree in terms of agri-food exports to EU and world markets; greater product diversification and other innovation activities could further improve their competitiveness on foreign markets.
