What is it about?

Denial of Service (aka DoS) is a threat that causes total inoperability to a system by clogging the communication mechanism between the user and service. In our case study, a Parrot AR.Drone 2 is the system, and the Wi-Fi is how the user access the command and control service.

Why is it important?

Physically tightened systems directly impact people's surroundings; therefore, malicious actions are potentially harmful. Denying a drone's command and control service is extremely dangerous, as we have a scenario where such a device is heading against something real without any control or responsibility. Thus, understanding this class of attack and producing mechanisms to identify them is crucial to providing safe solutions to our most challenging projects.

Perspectives

We could understand the Wi-Fi de-authentication attack in the context of Drones and provide a model to identify DoS attacks to the Command & Control channel. Furthermore, the solution is deployable in mission-critical systems and improves reliability in drone operations.
