What is it about?
During a penalty shootout, a goalkeeper has to decide when to dive, and in which corner. Analysing the movement patterns from optical flow helps to predict the time and location of the penalty shot.

Why is it important?
Video analysis is often done by just analysing a sequence of images, while in this algorithm really reoccuring patterns in time and place are followed. No conclusions are possible from a single image, but combined into a video the opponents behavior can be predicted.
Perspectives
I had worked before on combining observations in time and space on a high, but here those observations are analysed on a much deeper level.
