What is it about?

This paper examines the President’s Task Force on 21st Century Policing’s claim that legitimacy and trust in police can be promoted by a culture of transparency and accountability. Drawing on a natural experiment in Chicago, we found that efforts to hold police accountable and increase transparency improved trust in police among black residents.
