What is it about?

A qualitative study among low-income working adults in Hong Kong found that the major barriers of using mobile applications for health management were download difficulties, privacy concerns, a tendency towards internet searches rather than app usage, and cost considerations. Their busy schedule also prevented them from exploring and using mobile health apps. However, they often search health information on social media platforms and were interested in Chinese-medicine information health foods and treatments. Their ideal mobile health apps should be video-based with a clear and well-organized navigation paths, and developed by professional and authoritative sources. Healthcare services providers and health apps developers will benefit from this study in innovative product design and strategic marketing.
