What is it about?
In addition to introduce the papers in this special issue, this editorial interrogates the political and ethical possibilities, limits and paradoxes of engaging with the negative and positive aspects of the monstrous in organizations.

Why is it important?
Since the monstrous is a powerful metaphor, its shifting use across different times and spaces demands constant interrogation. While the monstrous is often associated with extreme evil, this was not always so. It is therefore important to evaluate if and how the positive diversity and difference which the term also embodies can be mobilized for radical change and political progress to fight forces of reactionary evil and terror.
