What is it about?
In this qualitative study, hospice patients were asked about the things they were uncertain about as they were dying. The stories they told included uncertainties about beliefs, relationships, and death that were spiritual in nature.

Why is it important?
These findings were interesting because while we wanted to learn more about other uncertainties experienced by patients who were dying, these participants had the most questions about spirituality.
Perspectives
The study findings supported with my own experiences as a hospice nurse. Hospice patients not only have concerns about their symptoms and physical aspects of dying but also other aspects of their lives. Taking time to listen and focusing on the uncertainties for each patient were my lessons learned from this study.
