This research was conducted to see what online teaching practices students most appreciate in terms of instructor presence. The top needs reported by students included: clear assignment instructions, clear course requirements, and ease of navigation within the course.

Why is it important?
Instructor presence in online classes continues to be an area of research that attracts a lot of interest. This paper provides the student reaction to certain "presence" practices that online instructors may implement. The results may guide online teacher practices and/or future research.
