Rare tree species have distinct traits that provide specific ecosystem services and this could not be compensated by the remaining common species in tree biodiversity loss scenarios

Why is it important?
Our findings demonstrate that future conservation and RES programs in mixed landscapes should both protect the diversity of large tree species, including rare tree species, and promote multifunctional keystone species to ensure a longterm and diverse ES supply.
