What is it about?

Genderless third person pronoun ta is an emergent phenomenon in Chinese computer-based communication. Written in Pinyin, the roman alphabet script, as opposed to gender information specific character script, we show how language users have a hierarchy preference which is influenced by socio-cultural factors.
