What is it about?

This volume brings together articles by some major figures in various linguistics domains - phonology, morphology and syntax, aiming at explaining the form of linguistic items by exploring the structures that underlie them. The emerging conclusion is that a complete understanding of form can only be achieved by abstracting away from the phonetic reality and by exploring the structures of other linguistic domains and modules. It renders homage to Jean Lowenstamm’s career, in France and abroad.
