What is it about?
This paper has two main objectives: firstly, to contribute to the prosodic description of Mexican Spanish on both sides of the political border between both countries (declarative statements and neutral absolute interrogatives), and secondly, to verify the continuity between the Mexican-American intonation of LA and that of MX Mexican.

Why is it important?
The findings will undoubtedly contribute to the advancement of scientific knowledge and will be an important and valuable contribution to the studies on Spanish prosody both in Spain and America
Perspectives
Thus, the objective is to analyze linguistic data in their historical, dialectal and sociolinguistic contexts in order to not only provide complete descriptions, but also to observe the facts from within by considering the speaker part of the speaking community. This study, due to its goals, is part of three international projects: 1) Atlas Multimedia Prosodique de l’Espace Roman (AMPER) with the groups AMPER-USA-LA.Ca., AMPER-México and AMPER-Guatemala; 2) Atlas Interactivo de la Entonación del Español (ATLES) and 3) PROESLA - Características prosódicas del español de los Estados Unidos: Los Ángeles, California (FFI 2011-23292). Besides, researchers from the following institutions will be involved: University of Southern California, West Virginia University, El Colegio de México, University of Bergen, Universities of Seville, Extremadura and Alicante.
