What is it about?
At present, NbTi and Nb3Sn superconductors are the only two materials used for high field applications. There is a need for new superconducting materials alternate to Nb based materials for the following reasons: (1) The demand for the superconducting magnets will increase many fold once the ITER project is successfully completed. (2) Nb is not a good material to use in neutron environment.

Why is it important?
The ZrV2 based alloys alloys have high critical current density, however, they are mechanical weak. If we have to use these materials for high field applications, we have to increase their mechanical strength and ductility. In this direction, we have prepared the V-Zr alloys to study the correlation between the alloy formation and the critical current density.
