What is it about?
When software development teams work together they tend to communicate with each other frequently and are also aware of each other's work progress, expertise, and availability. This paper shows how these two aspects are studied in literature. The results show that the studies are focused on communication medium, communication patterns of teams, and interdependence of communication and awareness.

Why is it important?
Communication plays basic role in teams collaboration while working together in a set of interdependent requirements, and so is awareness. Therefore, it is very important to understand how these aspects are covered in literature and in which possible ways these two aspects can be studied in new team settings.
Perspectives
This work is a preliminary part of my research work focused on communication patterns of agile teams.
