What is it about?

This review provides a summary of guidelines for hearing aid candidacy in children with hearing loss. The review shows that there is variation in guidelines for children with mild bilateral and unilateral hearing loss with different hearing level cut-points recommended as a starting point for amplification decisions. For children with auditory neuropathy spectrum disorder, current guidelines recommend not proceeding with hearing aids until behavioural test information (responses from the child) has been obtained.
