What is it about?
The authors interviewed AAC specialists about how they performed AAC assessments in children with autism and children with cerebral palsy. after the participants had read two case histories and viewed a short video clip of each child. The interviews were transcribed and coded using qualitative methodology.

Why is it important?
There is very little published research on AAC assessment with any population. Most of the information is theoretical. Assessment models describe areas of assessment but very few state what tasks to perform. We wanted to identify/describe the areas of AAC assessment the clinicians included during AAC evaluations and also "how" those areas were assessed.
