What is it about?
DNA molecules can perform catalysis, much like protein enzymes and RNA enzymes (ribozymes). One of the best characterized DNA enzymes (and one of only two for which the three-dimensional structure is known) is called "8-17". This review describes what we currently know about the "8-17" workings and how this knowledge has been accumulated. The review also outlines the remaining challenges for research on this subject.
