What is it about?
We described the relationship between the four most AMD associated metals. We found that there is little correlation between metal deposition in drusen. We also found that copper is not enriched in deposits in the eye. The concentration of calcium was extremely high reminiscent of crystalline material.

Why is it important?
These experiments highlight that zinc and calcium are probably the most relevant metals in relationship to sub-RPE deposit formation.
