What is it about?
In this experiment, we demonstrated that lineup administrators who know the identity of the suspect engage in biasing behaviors that draw attention to the suspect. Furthermore, such non-blind administration is more likely to lead to false identifications when lineup photographs are presented simultaneously (versus sequentially) and witness memory is weak. These findings suggest that sequential and double-blind procedures are necessary to reduce the suggestiveness of eyewitness lineups.
