What is it about?
Annihilation anxiety is a core and often chronic feeling that one is about to be destroyed physically and/or psychologically. It's a feeling that one is falling apart in a very serious way. Previous attempts to examine this type of anxiety have been conceptual or have relied on indirect techniques. This article describes an easily administered questionnaire that assesses this type of anxiety.

Why is it important?
This is the first time that clinicians and researchers have an easy to administer questionnaire. It can be used for clinical research or to screen clients for this type of anxiety which is associated not only with severe psychic pain.
Perspectives
I have long been interested and invested in psychological assessment. This research project afforded me the opportunity to develop a novel and functional way to assess an important type of anxiety rarely assessed in routine clinical intakes.
