What is it about?
Spirituality is important to people nearing the end of their life and to their families. Unfortunately, spirituality is hard to understand, challenging spiritual care delivery . We analyzed previous research to assess if framing spirituality according to five common attributes is a useful to view spirituality. The attributes include meaning, beliefs, relationships, self-transcendence, and value.

Why is it important?
Our findings support using the five attributes to describe spirituality. We found that each attribute was prevalent in the stories of hospice patients and their families despite that they were not asked about spirituality directly.
