What is it about?
We found that the way mothers speak to their 5-month-old infants influences children's language later on. We also found that the genetic characteristics of 5-month-old infants influence the way their mother speaks to them.

Our findings highlight the importance of parents' language for later child development. They also indicate that infants can have an impact on their parents' behaviour.
